Ok I was confused, I thought it was cancelled since the party got moved to Sat, but since that is near the airport we can shoot right over. I think we're planning on just getting a rental car to make things easier on everyone. After flying 6 hours through the night and losing 3 more to arrive at 6am, I'm worried how long we will make it before passing out that night, though!

A different Christmas Poem

    A
Different Christmas Poem

      The embers glowed
softly, and in their dim light,
       I gazed
round the room and I cherished the
sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on
my chest,
       My daughter beside me, angelic
in rest.
       Outside the snow fell, a
blanket of white,
       Transforming the yard
to a winter delight.

       The sparkling
lights in the tree I believe,
       Completed
the magic that was Christmas Eve.
     My eyelids were
heavy, my breathing was deep,
       Secure and
surrounded by love I would sleep.
       In
perfect contentment, or so it would
seem,
So slumbered I, perhaps I started
to dream.

      The sound wasn't loud,
and it wasn't too near,
       But I opened my
eyes when it tickled my ear.

       Perhaps just
a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the
snow.

      My soul gave a
tremble, I struggled to hear,
       And I
crept to the door just to see who was near.

       Standing out
in the cold and the dark of the night,
       A
lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

       A soldier, I
puzzled, some twenty years old,
       Perhaps
a Trooper, huddled here in the cold.

      Alone in the dark, he
looked up and smiled,
       Standing watch
over me, and my wife and my child.

      "What are you
doing?" I asked without fear,
       "Come in
this moment. It's freezing out here!

       Put down your
pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
      You
should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"

       For barely a
moment I saw his eyes shift,
       Away from
the cold and the snow blown in drifts.

       To the window
that danced with a warm fire's light
      Then he
sighed and he said, "It's really all
right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here
every night."

       "It's my
duty to stand at the front of the line,

That separates you from the darkest of times.

       No one had to
ask or beg or implore me,
       I'm proud to
stand here like my fathers before me.
       My
Gramps died in Europe on a day in
December,"
       Then he said,
"That's a Christmas 'Gram always
remembers."
       I've not seen
my own son in more than a while,
       But my
wife sends me pictures. He's sure got her smile.

       Then he
bent and he carefully pulled from his
bag,
The red, white, and Blue American
Flag.
I can live through the cold and
the being alone,
       Away from my family, my
house and my home.
       I can stand at my
post through the rain and the sleet,
       I
can sleep in a foxhole with little to
eat.
I can carry the weight of killing
another,
Or lay down my life with my
sister and brother.
       Who stand at the
front against any and all,
       To ensure for
all time that this flag will not fall."

       "So go
back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
      Your
family is waiting and I'll be all
right."
"But isn't there something I can
do, at the least,
      "Give you money," I asked,
"or prepare you a feast?
      It seems all too
little for all that you've done,
      For being
away from your wife and your son."
      Then his
eye welled a tear that held no regret,

"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.

      To fight for our
rights back at home while we're gone,
       To
stand your own watch, no matter how
long.
For when we come home, either
standing or dead,
      To know you remember we
fought and we bled.
      Is payment enough, and
with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as
you mattered to us."

PLEASE,
Would you do me the kind favour of sending this to as
many people as you can?
Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due
to our
service men and women for our being able to celebrate these
festivities.

Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of
what we owe.
Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and
dead, who sacrificed
themselves for us.

HER NAME IS
DAISY

James Crane worked
on the 101st floor of Tower 1 of the World Trade
Centre.. He is blind so he has a golden
retriever named
Daisy.
After the plane hit 20
stories below, James knew that he was doomed, so
he let Daisy go, out of an act of love. She
darted away into the darkened
hallway.
Choking on the fumes
of the jet fuel and the smoke James was just
waiting to die. About 30 minutes later, Daisy
comes back along with James' boss, who Daisy
just happened to pick up on floor
112
On her first run of
the building, she leads James, James' boss, and
about 300 more people out of the doomed
building. But she wasn't through yet, she knew
there were others who were trapped. So, highly
against James' wishes she ran back in the
building.
On her second run, she
saved 392 lives. Again she went back in. During
this run, the building collapses. James hears
about this and falls on his knees into tears.
Against all known odds, Daisy makes it out
alive, but this time she is carried by a
firefighter. "She led us right to the people,
before she got injured" the fireman explained.

Her final run saved another 273 lives.
She suffered acute smoke inhalation, severe
burns on all four paws, and a broken leg, but
she saved 967 lives. Daisy is the first civilian
Canine to win the Medal of Honor of New York
City.

I hope you enjoyed this story.
I thought it was terrific. Pass it on to all
animal lovers, and to everyone if you want to.
Remember love is to be shared to be multiplied.

10 things that make me happy

Hey grandma!! It was great to talk to you on your birthday!
If you don't mind me asking, what year were you born again? I love you so much
and am always (always) so proud of my grandma. :) Sorry this took me so long to send to you but I wanted to make sure I got I got the list just right (and super busy week)!

So it looks like fate and ticket prices worked out to get us
in Ohio from the Fri 27th-Thrs 2nd. I made sure to carve out that first
weekend pretty much for you though! We
arrive that morning around 7-8 and thinking we can meet you at your
meeting if you think it’d be ok to bring Wyatt, or we can just kind of hang
around and meet you at the end. Maybe I can pop in for a couple parts,
especially if you’re going to be speaking. Otherwise, that was the cheapest
option, which also works out to be the best way for me to maximize my vacation
time.

Feeling loved, especially by those I love the most

Spending quality time with friends and family

When I discover and mix new music (that first time you hear
your new favorite song)

Receiving compliments or a sincere thank you

When I accomplish goals and am motivated to set new ones

When I first think or do something my friends or colleagues cannot or
when I win a competition

When I get lucky or things go my way unexpectedly

When I pay my bills on time with money to spare that next
day – (the first day it still sucks to part with that money, ha)

When I sincerely remember my blessings and give thanks to
God

When I focus on what makes me happy

LOVE YOU GRANDMA! BREAK A LEG SATURDAY (FIGURATIVELY).

this is
awesome!!!

There
is a huge rock near a gravel pit
on

Hwy.25 in rural Iowa . For generations,

kids have painted slogans, names,
and

obscenities on this rock, changing
its

character many
times.

      A
few months back, the rock received
its

latest paint job, and since then it has
been

left completely
undisturbed.

It's quite an impressive sight. Be sure
to

scroll down and check out the
multiple

photos. All angles of the rock.

I thought the flag was draped over the
rock,

but
it's not. It's actually painted on the rock
too.

Here's
the artist: Ray 'Bubba'
Sorensen.

AWESOME
WORK,  RAY …THANK YOU !!!

Pass it on.
You may be only one person
in the world,
but you may also be the world
to one person.

 NOW
WASN'T THAT SOMETHING TO
SEE!
